York Regional Police have arrested a man after shots were fired at a Vaughan, Ont., home this week and say the incident may be connected to a series of other shootings in the same neighbourhood over the weekend.
Police say a 23-year-old man from Innisfil has been charged after multiple shots were fired early Sept. 10 at a home in Vaughan, Ont., a city just north of Toronto. It was the third shooting in a series of what the police are calling targeted attacks in the neighbourhood since the weekend.

“Investigators are connecting this to two other shootings from the weekend in Vaughan,” Const. Lisa Moskaluk said in a Sept. 10 press conference. “A third incident from the weekend is also being considered. I want to make it clear, the address of today’s incident was the intended target, not the resident.”
Officers responded to a call of a shooting at a house on Lady Angela Lane, near Bathurst Street and Teston Road, at approximately 2 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Moskaluk told reporters patrol cars were already in the area due to a heightened presence in recent days as a result of the weekend shootings.
Officers were able to contain a suspicious vehicle upon arriving at the scene, resulting in a short foot pursuit that led to the arrest of a suspect with the assistance of the canine unit, according to a police press release. The suspect sustained minor injuries.
Police said there are no outstanding suspects and a handgun was recovered from the scene.
Kaejean Isaiah Doman, 23, of Innisfil is facing multiple charges in connection with the Sept. 10 shooting. He faces six firearm-related charges, as well as one count of dangerous operation of a motor-vehicle, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The charges have not been tested in court.
Three other homes in Vaughan were shot at during the early hours of Sept. 6 and 7. Two of them were located on Via Romano Boulevard, not far from Lady Angela Lane. A home near Pottery Place and Blue Willow Drive was also targeted on Sept. 7.
All three residences were occupied at the time of the shootings, but no injuries were reported, police said in a Sept. 7 press release.
Moskaluk said the Sept. 10 shooting is linked to the two incidents on Via Romano Boulevard, but investigators are still looking for a connection to the fourth shooting.
A dark Honda civic was observed in all three weekend shootings, she said.
Police said they aren’t looking for any additional suspects in the most recent shooting but are continuing to explore the potential involvement of others in the shootings that took place over the weekend.
The surge in gun violence in the region follows the death of 46-year-old Vaughan father and businessman Abdul Aleem Farooqi who was shot during an Aug. 31 home invasion and a targeted shooting at a “commercial premise” in Vaughan on Aug. 27 that resulted in the death of 41-year-old Deuvane Donald Francis of Toronto.
Police are asking anyone with information about any of the shootings to call its Hold Up Unit or Crime Stoppers.
