A U.S.-based Islamic preacher has been barred from entering Canada for a planned speaking tour months after being barred from the UK.

Shaykh Uthman Ibn Farooq, who is based in the United States, was scheduled for a speaking tour with stops in Toronto, Hamilton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Halifax. He was barred from entry into the UK in May after an online video post in April showed him responding to a question about “intimacy with a slave” by saying, “Allah made that those people taken under war … as captives who are trying to kill you, that now you are going to support and keep in your house and spend on and treat well, that this is like a wife.”
