A powerful magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Kunar on Sunday, leaving at least 250 dead and at least 500 more injured, officials said on Monday.

The quake late Sunday hit a series of towns in the province of Kunar, near the city of Jalalabad in the neighboring Nangarhar province.
