Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam shed some light on Beijing’s national security law while speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council on June 30.

Lam, in a speech delivered through video link, said that Beijing’s national security “will have no retrospective effect,” according to a press release from the Hong Kong government.
