Health Canada is issuing a recall for more than 600,000 electrical outlets sold across the country over the past 10 years because of a possible fire hazard.

Three models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets sold at Home Hardware locations across Canada have been recalled because of faulty terminal screws, the federal agency said in a recent advisory.

“The terminal screws on the product may not tighten properly, which may create an increase in temperature, posing a fire hazard,” Health Canada said in the statement.

There were 812 reports of screws that were faulty, stripped, or unable to be tightened, and one report of fire resulting in property damage as of July 9. There have been no injuries reported thus far, the health agency said.

The impacted products feature the letters “TR” stamped on the front and the letters “LGL” embossed on the back. The item numbers and the universal product code can be found here.

Approximately 664,000 units of the affected China-made outlets were sold in Canada between 2015 and May 2025, according to Unison Ridge, the distributor of the products,.

The agency is advising any Canadians who purchased the outlets to “immediately” stop using them and to contact Unison Ridge for instructions on how to uninstall the products before returning them to Home Hardware for a refund.

Smartwatch Charger With Fire Risk

The agency has published another advisory about potential fire hazards, this time linked to smartwatch chargers sold on Amazon.ca.

Health Canada is advising anyone who purchased a QTHN smartwatch charger with model number PD2001 to stop using the product “immediately.”

“The recalled QTHN smartwatch charger can overheat, posing a fire hazard,” the agency said.

“Immediately stop using the recalled product and contact LANTOP Trading Inc. to receive a free replacement charger or a full refund.”

More than 2,800 of the affected units were sold in Canada between September 2024 and March 2025. The company did not receive any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada as of June 10, the advisory said.

The recalled smartwatch charger was sold in white and is a USB-C, compatible with multiple models. The Amazon standard identification number is B0CVHHRJVT.

Anyone seeking a refund must provide proof of purchase to receive a replacement charger or a full refund.
