The government has decided to abandon the Bill of Rights, Justice Secretary Alex Chalk has told Parliament.

Speaking to lawmakers during the justice questions session on Tuesday, Chalk responded to a question by from the Conservative chairman of the Commons Justice Committee, Sir Bob Neill, who asked about the government’s intention to “update and modernise our human rights law as necessary, but doing so whilst firmly remaining in adherence to the [European] Convention on Human Rights.”
