Dramatic dashcam footage has captured the moment Queensland police raced through a shopping centre carpark to arrest a man after a high-speed chase in a Mercedes sedan.
Police have charged a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman following the incident, which spanned across Ipswich and Brisbane on July 31.
According to the Queensland Police Service, the pursuit began about 7:25 p.m. when officers attending an unrelated matter in Spencer Street, Redbank, south of Brisbane, saw the pair leaving in the vehicle.
Police allege the driver of the Mercedes was driving dangerously and at high speed, prompting police to continue tracking the car.
Officeres successfully deployed a tyre deflation device shortly before the car reached Moorooka, 9 km south of Brisbane.
The man continued driving on a flattened tyre before abandoning the sedan and fleeing on foot into the Moorooka Square shopping centre precinct.
Dashcam vision shows a police vehicle cutting through parking bays and weaving around parked cars at speed as officers closed in on the suspect. He was taken into custody a short time later.
Police allege the woman then jumped into the driver’s seat and fled the carpark in the damaged Mercedes. Officers deployed a second tyre deflation device a short distance away, bringing the car to a complete stop before arresting her.

Charges Laid
The Mount Gravatt Property Crime Team charged the man with nine offences, including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving without a licence.
Meanwhile, the woman was charged by the Mount Gravatt Tactical Crime Squad with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

State’s Crime Crackdown
According to Queensland police data, there were a total of 3,762 traffic offences reported across the state in June, with 4,082 reported in the month of May.
The Queensland government recently allocated $7.2 billion in the 2026/27 budget for fighting crime in the state.
The funding aims to increase police through a $23 million boost to recruitment, while spending $28 million on upgrading the national firearms register.
Meanwhile, $5.3 million has been allocated to crime-fighting drones and extra funding for police operations by air.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said there was a focus on having more police on the ground.
“We are giving police more eyes in the sky to track offenders and support frontline operations through expanded drone capability and long-term funding certainty for POLAIR services in Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns,” he said.
