An alleged cocaine import and trafficking operation has had its wings clipped after a 39-year-old man was arrested in Melbourne.

The man allegedly used the pseudonym “Chicken man” online while importing and trafficking cocaine and other drugs into Victoria.

After properties in Sale, Silverleaves, Strathmore, and Patterson Lakes were raided, police seized a range of drugs including cocaine, methylamphetamine, and MDMA.

The 39-year-old was arrested in Strathmore on Wednesday, with police believing the drug ring used encrypted messaging apps.

A coronial inquiry into a drug overdose prompted the investigation in April, focusing on drug trafficking across Victoria.

Charges were expected to be laid on Wednesday afternoon with the man to face Melbourne Magistrates Court.
