Canadians Favouring Hybrids as Electric Vehicle Sales Decline: StatCan

Canadians are purchasing fewer electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, new data from Statistics Canada suggests.

New vehicle registrations rose 5.9 percent in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year, but new registrations for battery electric vehicles decreased by 39.2 percent during the same timeframe, according to the StatCan report released Sept. 8.
