The pandemic has been a train wreck for the foodservice industry, with many restaurants dying and others scrambling to survive.

According to Restaurants Canada, the pandemic could cost the foodservice sector $44.8 billion in sales. It’s a major blow to Canada’s fourth-largest private industry sector. In 2019, it had $93 billion in sales and served 22 million customers daily and employed 1.2 million people. Today, it employs just 800,000.
