Australian body positivity advocate, writer and film director Taryn Brumfitt has been named Australian of the year for her work to help women and men in Australia and around the world be comfortable in their own skin.
The documentary maker’s advocacy stemmed from her 2016 film Embrace, which explored the pervasive issue of body shaming among women. The project left Brumfitt determined to help others love the skin they’re in, convinced that people weren’t born hating their own bodies.
