Australia’s Migrant Intake Hits 10-year Low After Crackdown on Fraudulent Claims

The annual permanent migration intake has fallen to the lowest level in more than a decade after tougher vetting procedures were introduced to clamp down on fraudulent claims.

The Australian reported that the permanent migration intake figure for the last financial year dropped by more than 10 percent, or by 21,000 people to 162,417, marking the lowest level since 2007.
