A prominent New South Wales (NSW) Labor figure has faced court after being charged with firearms offences and possessing money suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The incident leading to the charges unfolded after emergency services were called to a kitchen fire at the home of Glenn Potter, a senior leader of the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) NSW/ACT branch, on March 1.
