A pastor of an Edmonton church remains in custody after being charged with breaking Alberta’s COVID-19 rules and continuing to refuse compliance with his bail conditions.

Pastor James Coates of Edmonton’s GraceLife church has been defying public health orders for weeks and holding services that provincial officials say violate COVID-19 restrictions on maximum gathering capacity, masking, and social distancing.
