A fire has destroyed four cars, including an EV (electric vehicle), in Sydney’s southwest on the early morning of Feb. 14.

Fire and Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW) is currently investigating the fire that broke out at a warehouse storing cars in the suburb of Milperra around 7:45 a.m.

According to the fire authority, one of the cars ignited itself and spread flames to three other vehicles.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after the fire occurred.

It took 12 firefighters and three fire trucks 20 minutes to completely extinguish the blaze.

While FRNSW experts are still investigating how and where the fire started, they have ruled out the EV as the cause.

The incident comes just months after five cars in a car park near Sydney Airport were reduced to slag during a fire.

Through an investigation, authorities concluded that a battery that had been removed from the luxury EV and stored in the car park, ignited itself and started the blaze.

It then spread to four vehicles parking nearby before being put out by firefighters.

FRNSW said the fire could have been much worse if the fire department had not taken action quickly, as there were around 25 to 30 cars in the car park when the fire occurred.

It was unclear why the owner of the luxury EV removed the battery.

An FRNSW spokesperson did not tell The Epoch Times the brand or make of the EV, citing legal considerations.
