Woman Withdraws Money From the ATM, Notices Something Unusual About $20 Bill

A woman withdrew money from a Seattle-area ATM at a Bank of America only to realize there was something wrong with one of the bills.

Darcy Fox, the woman, know wants to know how such a big bank could have messed up so badly.

According to KOMO News, she took out $300 and was counting her bills.

A $20 bill stood out, and she immediately knew it was fake.

President Andrew Jackson’s face looked unusual, but on both sides of the bill, it said “Motion Picture Use Only” rather than the usual “United States of America.”

“It bewildered me that they could actually have that occur at a bank,” Fox told the outlet. She went into the bank branch to report the incident to the bank manager.

Bank of America said they gave her $20 in return, and they said they would report the incident to the U.S. Secret Service.

Fox said she is worried about customers who don’t count their bills.

“I mean this is blatantly fake money. The bank isn’t supposed to miss these things,” Fox said. “I just don’t want this to happen to other people. A bank industry is supposed to be trustworthy.”

According to The Consumerist, banks generally don’t refund fake bills after the customer has left the premises.

No Harriet Tubman on Bill?

The redesign of the $20 bill, which would feature Harriet Tubman, will no longer be unveiled next year, said Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

“The primary reason we have looked at redesigning the currency is for counterfeiting issues,” Mnuchin said after he was questioned Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), as reported by CNBC.

The process had been delayed, he said, adding that no new pictures would be unveiled until 2028.

He said that “based upon this, the $20 bill will now not come out until 2028. The $10 bill and the $50 bill will come out with new features beforehand.”

The redesign was announced in 2016 by former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, replacing former President Andrew Jackson with Tubman.
