A day care worker in Long Island, New York, was arrested after slapping a toddler, say police.

Jeanine Sammis, 36, was caught on camera slapping a 1-year-old child numerous times in September at KinderCare day care in Nassau County, police said, adding that the child wasn’t seriously injured, Fox8 reported.

Child Protective Services and local police were then contacted by KinderCare, which released a statement reading that they take “all concerns about our teachers and staff seriously and follow a very specific protocol anytime a concern is raised,” Fox reported.

Sammis quit last week to work elsewhere.

She’s been charged with second-degree attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

She was released from jail but is due back in court Tuesday, Oct, 24.

Grace Pok’s daughter attends the KinderCare and told WPIX that she found the allegations distressing.

“I feel terrible for the baby’s mom,” she said.
