Woman Who Fell From Balcony While Doing ‘Extreme Yoga’ Is Recovering ‘Quickly,’ Says Report

A 23-year-old woman who fell 80 feet from an apartment balcony in Mexico while doing “extreme yoga” is recovering, according to reports.

In August, college student Alexa Terrazas was captured on camera doing a yoga pose on the balcony’s railing. A photo shows her precariously hanging in an upside-down position as her knees were bent and her hands were not on the railing.

According to El Universal, she lost her balance and fell from the sixth floor of the apartment in San Pedro in Nuevo Leon. The accident caused her to break about 110 bones and undergo 11 hours of surgery. After she slipped, she fell on the pavement outside the building, El Imparcial also reported.

About two months later, it was revealed that she is recovering, news outlet Milenio reported.

“I really want to send you thanks for so much of your prayers,” Terrazas said, according to a translation. She also thanked people for the “prayers” and “good vibes.”

“I feel great, and thanks to that, I have made many advances,” she said. “Even the doctors are shocked and they cannot believe that my body would react so quickly.”

The report said in the past week, doctors performed an operation on one of her elbows in the latest round of surgery. It was done to restore mobility to her hands and arms.

“Thank God, it was an incredible day yesterday,” she said, adding that she has “had a lot of progress.”

The report said that she is slated to undergo more surgeries in the future.

The New York Post previously reported that she was a nutrition student at Tecnológico de Monterrey, and doctors will have to reconstruct her legs. It will take about three years before she can again walk.

The Nuevo Leon Attorney General’s Office said the rail was structurally sound. Her fall was an accident, the Post reported.

Mexican Mayor Dragged

The mayor of a Mexican village was dragged through the streets via a pickup truck, leading to the arrests of 11 people.

The State Attorney General’s Office in Tuxtla Gutiérrez said the incident took place on Oct. 8 in the municipality of Las Margaritas. A group of people stormed Mayor Jorge Luis Escandón Hernández’s office before beating him and tying him to a pickup truck and dragging him through the streets, reported Excelsior, a Spanish-language news website.

The group of mostly farmers had demanded that Hernandez, who was with the socialist Democratic Revolution Party, build a road that was promised to them during his political campaign.

The mayor reportedly refused before the mob pulled him out of the building and tied him to the back of a truck.

“A group of people from the Santa Rita Greenhouse in the municipality of Las Margaritas entered the municipal presidency of Las Margaritas this morning, causing damage to real estate” before assaulting Hernández, said the General Prosecutor of the State of Chiapas in a statement.

Surveillance footage captured the moment he was dragged through Santa Rita in Las Margaritas.

Excelsior reported that police were ultimately able to rescue him.
