A woman died after her husband shot her inside an indoor play center in Marysville, Michigan, on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 11.

Cheryl L. Pilarowksi was shot by her husband at her business, Jump N Jam, reportedly in front of her kids. The husband was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the family’s home in Kimball Township, Marysville Police reported.
Police later identified the husband as Matthew Pilarowski, 34.

The shooting triggered chaos at the indoor play center where there were a number of children were celebrating a birthday. MLive reported that the couple’s 4-year-old witnessed the shooting, as well as a 9-year-old Cheryl Pilarowksi had from another relationship.

“As you can probably imagine, there was just mass hysteria there,” Marysville police Deputy Chief Ron Buckmaster told MLive.

Cheryl Pilarowski was later pronounced dead at Lake Huron Medical Center in Port Huron.

The couple’s home was secured by police after they figured out where they lived.

“The suspect’s vehicle was parked in front of the residence, lights were on,” Buckmaster told MLive

“At this point in the investigation, it appears this was the result of domestic violence,” Marysville Police said in a release.

Witnesses said that the couple had been fighting in the parking lot of the business a day earlier.

“What bothers me most is that someone would do that in front of their own child,” the Buckmaster said.
