FAIRFIELD, Calif.  — Police in Northern California have identified a woman seen throwing a pug onto the asphalt in a video that has been shared tens of thousands of times on social media over the last 10 days.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://sfg.ly/1IBxCxQ) Tuesday that the Solano County Animal Services department was asking for the public’s help finding the woman, identified as Brandi Chin.

Officer Francisco Piedra says a video posted to Facebook Dec.19 shows Chin lugging her dog, Benny, by the front leg then flinging the pug toward her boyfriend.

The dog rolled several times before her boyfriend scooped up the canine. The two then shouted at each other.

Fairfield police were investigating the case as suspected animal cruelty. The boyfriend appeared fine. But authorities say the dog needs to see a vet.
