SUN VALLEY, Calif.—Traffic detectives April 9 asked the public for help locating the driver of an older model pickup truck believed responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Sun Valley.

The fatal accident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Thursday on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Keswick Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department press release.

The older model two-tone blue Toyota or Nissan pickup truck was southbound on Laurel Canyon Boulevard when the driver ran the red light and hit the 55-year-old woman, who was walking inside a marked crosswalk, police said. She was pushing a small cart that got stuck on the truck so the woman was flung to the ground.

The truck driver continued south on Laurel Canyon Boulevard without stopping to render aid to the woman, police said.

Paramedics took the woman to a hospital where she died, police said.

The pickup truck is believed to have front-end damage as a result of the crash.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to people who provide information leading to an offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through civil compromise, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Davis in the Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8032 or 818-644-8000. Anonymous tips can be phoned into Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
