Deputies rushed to a home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Jan. 2, after receiving reports of a lifeless baby at the home.
They did indeed find a lifeless baby--with the umbilical cord still attached--in the 500 block of Longfellow Lane.
Investigators were called to the scene and through investigative leads a suspect has been identified, according to the Douglas County Sheriff.
Camille Wasinger-Konrad was taken into custody and is currently being held at the county detention center on a no bond hold.
“At this time we would like to remind the community of the Colorado Safe Haven Law which was passed 2000 and allows a parent to hand over an infant, up to 72 hours old, to an employee at any fire station or hospital with no questions asked, as long as the baby is unharmed, the parent will not be prosecuted for abandonment.”
