A Memphis woman has been arrested for allegedly plotting to have her fiancé murdered—by the father of her children.
Memphis Police said Crystal Gadlin, 32, allegedly offered $40,000 to the father of her children to have her future husband murdered.
She was caught after the man she tried to hire to carry out the murder turned her in, according to police.
The affidavit says Gadlin wanted her fiancé murdered so she could collect his life insurance money.
Police said she told the father of her children she was going to marry a man for his money.
After she was married, she wanted her new husband killed, after which she would pay $40,000 to the would-be assassin.
However, the children’s father recorded the conversation and went to police. They arrested Gadlin but did not initially take a statement because she said she was “intoxicated on cocaine.”
She is being held on a $200,000 bond.
Gadlin has had previous run-ins with the law. She was arrested in 2016 for allegedly hitting her mother in the face.
In 2015 she was issued a citation for leaving her children in an unlocked car while she went into a store.
