Sixty-two-year-old Beverlie spent two years in a downward spiral of grief after losing her son, after which she decided that it was time to try digging herself out of her depression and reclaiming herself, and her beauty.

When her years of personal neglect left Beverlie feeling discouraged about the possibility of discovering beauty again, though, she turned to The Makeover Guy, Christoper Hopkins, for a hair-styling and makeup redo that completely transformed her image.

Beverlie had explained before getting her hair cut that she'd always felt happy with her looks but that recent tragedy in her life had left her devastated and struggling to feel like she was proud of the image she presented to the world.

“Throughout my life, I’ve always been an attractive woman for whatever age I was at. I’m not. And I need to find a way to be attractive for 62-years-old,” she said. “I need to feel beautiful again … I feel like I’m 5,000 years old.”

It wasn’t just her age that had caused her to feel this way, of course. Beverlie was still struggling with a tremendous loss that had occurred two years prior, when her son passed away and left her reeling. She admitted that she struggled with her weight and her self-image, and that although she was trying to rise above her grief, she was finding it hard to love herself again.

“I’ve basically been in a coma for two-and-a-half years, and I didn’t really see any reason to live. And I was just old and fat and my life had gone to [expletive]—and that’s not what I see today,” she admitted.

That’s where Hopkins stepped in.

He cut off the long locks that Beverlie had been sporting, taking away the weight of the hair and lopping it all off in one fell swoop to donate to charity later.

Then, he added a bit of color—adding a gentle, light auburn to spice things up with a bit of red to pair with the shorter ‘do. Add some makeup and an easy way to curl and style the new look for Beverlie, and the transformation was complete!

Hopkins let Beverlie reveal her makeover to her daughter-in-law, who was blown away by the look. When the pair embrace with joy, it’s apparent that the physical transformation had already set Beverlie on a path towards feeling better both on the outside and inside in the time ahead.

It was a modest yet highly effective transformation that brought out the woman’s inherent beauty—less is more, as the saying goes—and that’s what Hopkins does best. Hopefully, Beverlie will be able to rediscover what she loves about herself as she embarks upon her journey toward healing and finds renewed happiness.
