Woman, Dog Killed in Newport Beach Crash

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—A woman and a dog were killed in a two-vehicle collision that engulfed one vehicle in flames, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported at 8:05 p.m. Sunday at San Joaquin Hills Road and Newport Ridge Drive, according to Newport Beach police Lt. Michael Schiavi.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the woman, who died at the scene. Two male juveniles who were in the other vehicle were taken by paramedics to a trauma center with major injuries, police said.

The Newport Beach Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team was working to determine the cause of the crash.
