FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—A Flagstaff woman denies a police officer’s claim that she kicked and kneed him in the groin before he punched her in the face during an arrest captured on video.

Marissa Morris tells the Arizona Daily Sun that she didn’t assault Officer Jeff Bonar, who has been placed on leave while internal affairs and criminal investigations are conducted.

The incident occurred Wednesday as the 30-year-old Morris and her boyfriend were being evicted. She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and of resisting arrest.

Police have said Bonar knew of arrest warrants for Morris in previous cases but that police determined after Wednesday’s incident that those warrants were no longer active.

Morris is heard on the video telling Bonar during the incident that she was not sought on warrants.
