A gunman killed 7 people at a Texan home on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 10, before being shot to death by police shortly afterward.

Police were called at around 8 p.m. on Sunday evening to the 1700 block on West Spring Creek Parkway, in Plano, Texas after residents heard shooting. The shooting reportedly happened while people gathered to watch a Dallas Cowboys football game.

Crystal Sugg, who said she works nearby, witnessed a woman arguing with a man before hearing the gunshots.

“As they were arguing, the woman was trying to go back in. As she was going back in the house, you see the man pull out his gun and started releasing,” she told the local Fox News station.

“It got really loud. The next thing you know you just hear multiple rounds just going off,” Sugg said to the Fox4 reporter, Allison Harris.

“I heard guns going off, I heard a lot of screaming. All I could hear was shooting, boom boom boom...”

Steven Featherland also described the scene to the reporter, saying he heard thirty to forty gunshots coming from the Plano home.

Plano Police Department spokesman David Tilley said that the gunman was shooting when a police officer arrived on the scene.

“He actually heard gunshots, that’s when he made entry into the house,” he said to CBS Dallas.

“He observed several victims inside, then engaged the suspect. And that’s when he shot him.”

Residents couldn’t believe the shooting happened on their doorstep.

“I’m in shock, I’m still in shock. It’s not normal in Plano, nothing happen[s] like that,” said Evin Mitjavila in an interview with CBS Dallas. David Tilley said the attack was the first of its kind in Plano.
“I’ve been here all my life,” he said. “I’ve never heard of anything like this,” the local newspaper Dallas News reported.

The outlet spoke with Stacey Glover who said that the party had started early that afternoon and she had seen people laughing and grilling outside.

Two others were wounded, but their conditions have not yet been released. Police have not identified any of the victims, all of whom are believed to be adults.

The motive behind the attack is still being investigated.
