William Brandon Aydelott, a 17-year-old from Florida, reportedly confessed to the Christmas Eve beating and stabbing death of his mother, Sharon Hill Aydelott, in her home.

The body of Sharon Aydelott was found in her Gulf Breeze home in a pool of blood, reported the NWF Daily newspaper. Her throat was slashed and officials say she was beaten with a baseball bat.

William Aydelott was said to be a promising pitcher and baseball player on high school team.

Officials said he told police that he attacked his mother after they had an argument. He said he hit her several times with a bat before he stabbed and slashed her.

Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy described the attack as horrific.

“It was very brutal, very heinous,” Aloy told FirstCoastNews. “Brutal is the only way to describe it.”

The arrest report said that William Aydelott admitted to the murder during an interview with homicide investigators. He was “calm” and “appeared to be emotionless, other than giving a small smile a few times during the interview.”

After the crime was committed, the son allegedly fled the scene. But he was later found three hours later at a nearby home where he was saying.

Police said he came in for questioning without any resistance.

“This is a sad day for that family,” said Tim Wyrosdick, the superintendent of Santa Rosa County schools, according to the Daily.
