A Georgia police officer was seen lying in the grass and comforting a child following a serious car crash.
“This officer was comforting a child who was injured in the accident. This child was an 8-year-old black male who was scared to death and had some internal injuries,” wrote Denton.
She said the “officer laid on the ground with this child, cradling his head in his hand and talking to him to keep him calm.”
The officers also apparently learned it was the boy’s birthday, leading one to sing “happy birthday” to him.
Meanwhile, Denton wrote that she chose to share the photo to disprove the “bad cop” narrative that’s being pushed in the media
“This officer laid on the ground with this child, cradling his head in his hand and talking to him to keep him calm,” Denton elaborated in the post.
“At one point the child reached over and patted the officer on the head and then played with the officer’s hair!” she continued, adding scenes like the one she has described is “why [she is] a police officer, to help people, to be there for them no matter what the circumstances and no matter what skin color!”
She continued: “I pray that this beautiful little boy is okay and I thank God that I work with some amazing officers who are so compassionate and caring! Thank you for making me proud to be your supervisor!”

Another officer elaborated on what was said to the child.
“And we just talked about school and his favorite video games and this and that. I asked him how old he was and he told me it was his birthday. So, then I sang happy birthday to him. Just anything to get his mind off of what was going on,” said Corporal Chris Holly, Fox5 reported.
He added that other police officers do the same thing across the country.
“To me, it’s not really a big deal. There’s police officers all over the United States doing the same thing every day. You know, it’s just what we do. This kind of stuff is 90 percent of our job; 10 percent of it is, you know, catching bad guys, car chases, that kind of stuff,” said Holly.
In the comments section, a number of people agreed with her sentiment.

Added another: “This is so awesome! Thanks to the men and women that put their lives on the line for us each and everyday!
