Whoopi Goldberg, on the season premiere of “The View,” spoke about losing her mother to a stroke.

“My mom passed on the 29th of August,” Goldberg said after Barbara Walters made an opening statement.

Her mother, Emma, was “one of the best people” Goldberg said she knew in her life.

“I don’t think she quite realized how many lives she touched," the 54-year-old comedic actress said. “She was an extraordinary woman.”

Goldberg continued on by saying that she and her brother “were very lucky” to have her in their lives.

Goldberg was currently on tour with the London production of “Sister Act,” but had returned home to be with her mother following the stroke.
