The meeting at the White House that was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday has been postponed.
President Barack Obama said the meeting was postponed to give the Senate more time to “continue making important progress” toward a solution on both the debt limit and the re-opening of the federal government, reported Reuters.
Obama was set to meet with congressional leaders on a deal to end the government shutdown.
