White Dragon in Malaysia Hoax: ‘Dragon’ Shot and Killed is a Sculpture

An article and photo on Tuesday is claiming a “white dragon” was discovered in Malaysia, but that’s probably just a hoax.

The “dragon” was discovered in Perak, and people took photos of it and shared it on social media websites.

A user on Facebook claimed the dragon was shot and killed.

According to Malaysian website Hype.my, the user said the “dragon was shot dead at a house near a durian orchard when its owner realized that he has been losing a few of his pet rabbits as of late.”

Hype.my says the photos are actually just of a dragon sculpture.

“The durian orchard owner, Boon Chin Yo, was sleeping in the 2-story house when he was suddenly awoken by a rabbit’s screams and a weird noise, much like a tiger. He peeped from the stairs only to find a strange animal with horns and long whiskers attacking a rabbit. Out of panic, he quickly made a grab for his auto rifle and shot at it 8 times, causing the strange animal fall onto the floor.”

Boon then claimed, “I wouldn’t have guessed that it’d turn out to be a white dragon. It shocked me.”

The same photos of the dragon sculpture went viral earlier this year, and they were allegedly taken in Thailand.

On social media sites, users apparently believed the hoax.

“The white dragon is so furry and his horns are worth millions of dollars wow and it flew to Malaysia ?” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another user added, “Wow! Look At This Dead Dragon Someone Shot in Malaysia!”
