Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters said “Yes” when former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow proposed to her Wednesday, Jan. 9, and he presented his new fiancée with a large diamond ring.

The designer of the 7.25-carat ring is not known at this time, but Kathryn Money, VP of Strategy and Merchandising at jeweler Brilliant Earth, told Fox News that the ring is worth quite a lot.

“Demi-Leigh’s gorgeous ring features a show-stopping round diamond in a solitaire white gold or platinum setting,” Money said on Jan. 11.

“Tim described the ring as internally flawless (sweetly comparing this quality to his fiancée), which dramatically increases the value of the diamond. Assuming high color and clarity characteristics, we estimate the value of the ring between $500,000 through 850,000 or more,” she continued.

Money also described the ring as totally “timeless.”

“Round solitaire diamond engagement rings never go out of style!” she told Fox.

Tebow, 31, and Nel-Peters, 23, went to Disney World in Florida, according to photos posted on social media.

Engagement

The former Denver Broncos and New York Jets quarterback wrote on Instagram last week: “Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Nel-Peters, the winner of Miss Universe, also wrote on Instagram, “Any dreams I’ve ever had,

She added: “You’ve exceeded them all! I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you!”

They both shot the photos at Tebow’s family farm near Jacksonville, Florida, People magazine reported.

“I’m so excited for the wedding, and I can’t wait to spend forever with Tim,” Nel-Peters, 23, told the publication.

The former quarterback secretly flew in Nel-Peters’s family and friends from South Africa so they could be there for their engagement.

“I actually wasn’t really nervous,” Tebow told People magazine. “I was excited. I wanted everything to be perfect and to go smoothly. But I wasn’t nervous to actually ask her.”

Tebow met the South African-born beauty queen at Night to Shine, an event sponsored by Tebow’s foundation for people with disabilities, Today reported.
“Her sister has special needs, so we invited them to Night to Shine in South Africa,” he told the news outlet. “We kind of met and started talking through that and haven’t stopped.”

Tebow Opens Up

Tebow spent years looking for a relationship—despite being one of the most popular American sports figures at one point in his career.

“I’m looking, but I just can’t seem to find anyone,” he told People magazine 2017. “I don’t want to be single; I’m ready to settle down and start a family. I want to have kids. I have so many things I want. No one will be happier than me when I finally find the right person.”

“I’m just looking for someone who has a good heart,” he continued. “They have to be kind, and they have to care about people who can’t do anything for them in return.”

“They have to really love God,” he also told the magazine. “My faith is important to me—it’s the most important thing—and I need to be with someone who also shares that faith.”

Tebow flamed out of the NFL in 2015 after a standout college career with the University of Florida, where he won two BCS National Championships.

In 2016, he announced he would pursue a professional baseball career and signed a single-year contract with the New York Mets. He played Minor League Baseball in 2017 and 2018.
