The July 4th  holiday is Tuesday, and like any federal holiday, a large number of government-operated services are closed.

Schools are obviously out due to the summer holiday, but summer schools will have the day off.

All banks are closed on the Fourth.

  • Toronto-Dominion
  • Royal Bank of Scotland

  • Fifth Third Bank
  • ING
  • KeyCorp
  • Northern Trust
  • Bank of Montreal
  • Bank of the West
  • Union Bank
  • Allied Irish
  • Comerica
  • Zions Bank

The post office is closed. And there won’t be any mail delivery.

A number of businesses--like Costco--will also be closed. Check local listings for hours.

Some businesses--like Walmart and Target--will be open and will use the day for sales.

Pharmacy chains like Walgreens, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, and CVS will be open--usually 24 hours per day.

Public transportation usually operates on a holiday or weekend schedule.

 

Walmart will be open; some Walmart Super Walmart stores will be open 24 hours on the holiday. Check hours before going there. 

Target: Most Target locatons will be open. Check hours. 

Costco: Costco won’t be open July 4.

CVS is open. Check hours. 

Rite Aid is open as well. Check hours. 

Walgreens is also open. Check hours. 

Duane Reade is open as well. Check hours. 

Good Neighbor Pharmacy is also likely open. Check hours.

Albertson’s is open on July 4. Some hours might vary, with some stores closing at 4 p.m. Check hours.

Most other grocery stores will be open.

Home Depot is also open on July 4.
