Wendy’s is set to unveil its new Natural-Cut Sea Salt Fries, which are leaner and more crispy, on Thursday, according to a news release from the company.
The natural-cut fries will be made from Russet potatoes with the skin left on. For several months, the fast food chain has been introducing more “real” foods into its lineup, which have more natural ingredients and “fresh preparation,” the company said.
Wendy’s has not made any changes to its fries in the 41 years that it has been operating.
The natural-cut fries will be priced the same as the regular French fries, which will still be available, and both will be available in the usual four serving sizes.
The sea salt-laden fries are one of many new products with this ingredient, according to USA Today. More than 1,350 products introduced in 2010 contain sea salt, the USA Today report stated, which is a 3 percent jump from 2006 to 2010.
“Wendy’s has never had the best french fry,” marketing chief Ken Calwel told USA Today. “If it’s not your strength, you can start with a clean sheet.”
