Wendy Davis, the Democratic Texas state Senator, is looking to run for the Texas governor’s office after Rick Perry leaves next year.
Politico reported Thursday that her advisers are gearing up to inform influential Democrats for her run.
The website cited “multiple sources familiar” with her conversations.
“Sen. Davis has decided what she will do and she looks forward to making that announcement with her grass-roots supporters on Oct. 3,” Davis consultant Hector Nieto told Politico.
He said she made up her mind this week on the decision and will reveal her plans this week.
Advisers did not confirm whether she will run, but there has been speculation since she gained national attention for a filibuster of a state anti-abortion bill.
Earlier this month, Davis sent an e-mail to her supporters that, in part, reads: “There’s one question I’ve gotten quite often in the past few months. I’ve heard it online, while I’m traveling around the state, from the media and in my Fort Worth neighborhood: What’s next?”
He added that supporters will be “among the first to know” to know what she is doing next, without elaborating, reported the Los Angeles Times.
