The Time.gov clock website that is provided by the U.S. federal government is down due to the shutdown.
“Due to a lapse in government funding, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is closed and most NIST and affiliated web sites are unavailable until further notice. We sincerely regret the inconvenience,” the website reads.
The website adds that the “National Vulnerability Database and the NIST Internet Time Service web sites will continue to be available. A limited number of other web sites may also be available.”
On Twitter, users made jokes about the website being down.
Kim Bhasin with the Huffington Post wrote: “The U.S. government’s clock website is down, because of the gov’t shutdown. TIME NO LONGER EXISTS!!! http://www.time.gov/.”
A number of other services, including national parks, have been closed down due to the government shutdown, which has entered its fourth day.
