In North Carolina, some schools have planned to dismiss classes early on Monday after the National Weather Service sent out a winter weather advisory for the central and eastern parts of the state, AP reported.

Sleet and freezing rain are expected in the eastern portion of North Carolina and the north part of the Outer Banks starting Monday afternoon. Less than a half-inch of sleet is slated for the region.

As much as a half-inch of sleet is also possible for the central part of the state, which includes Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham and Raleigh.

Up to two inches of snow is possible in the northeastern part of North Carolina.

In the southeastern part of North Carolina, sleet and ice are possible, AP reported.
