The weather forecast for New York on Saturday calls for more snow at night, along with cold temperatures.

The Weather Channel says that there’s a high chance of about 1-2 inches of snow by mid-afternoon.

The New York City Department of Sanitation said Saturday there will be a snow alert and deployed 365 salt spreaders, tire chains, plows, and will hire temporary employees.

The temperatures are expected to hit a high of about 20 degrees.

But according to Accuweather, there’s more extreme cold weather in store for the eastern two-thirds of the United States.

“While harsh cold is returning to the Midwest and Northeast this weekend, it will pale in comparison to what will follow for Monday through Wednesday,” writes Accuweather’s Kristina Pydynowski. “The impending polar plunge will rival the frigid days from earlier this January for the coldest daytime highs and nighttime lows so far this winter. That is especially true away from the Gulf Coast.”
