As of Tuesday night, two and a half million ballots in Washington state have been returned, over 50 percent of ballots. In 2016, less than 30 percent had been returned in the same timeframe.

In the state’s most populous county, King County, workers who process the ballots have started working 10-hour shifts in order to keep up with the workload.
