Voluntary evacuations have been issued in Walton County, Florida for the part of the county that is south of State Road 20 and for all low-lying areas.

Major Joe Preston, director of Emergency Management, said that the county is asking citizens to pay attention to the weather.

If citizens live in a low-lying area, then they should take precautions and move to higher ground, Preston said, reported the Walton Sun.

The evacuation order comes as Tropical Storm Karen is projected to move into the Golf of Mexico in the next several days.
