Wallace and Gromit will be joining the buildup in the months leading to Christmas by making a guest appearance on the Royal Mail’s Christmas stamps.

Starting on Nov. 2, the comedy duo will be featuring on 1st and 2nd class stamps in the UK. Gromit is posting Christmas cards on one, and the dog and his master are singing carols together on the other, the Evening Standard reported.

The Academy Award-winning pair will also be on the 60 pence, 97 pence and £1.46 stamps with humourous images, including a giant Christmas pudding, and Gromit in an oversized bone-themed jumper.

The Royal Mail design team collaborated with Nick Park and Aardman Animations to create detailed scenes that could still be reduced to fit the stamps.

“It's been such a wonderful honour and a pleasure to have my characters, Wallace and Gromit, immortalised on their very own stamps,” said Mr Park, according to the Evening Standard.

“It was one of the biggest challenges my talented team and I have faced yet-to create memorable Christmas images of the duo-the size of postage stamps. But we knew we'd lick it in the end.”

First, Mr Park drew each scene and then background sets with props, and clay models were specially created for each stamp.

“The process of developing these stamps has been a labour of love for all concerned-but I think it has resulted in one of the finest sets of Christmas stamps Royal Mail has ever produced,” said Philip Parker, spokesman for the Royal Mail.

“Keen-eyed collectors armed with a magnifying glass will see that the envelope seen being posted on the 1st class stamp features the actual 1st class stamp,” he added.
