Taelor Beeck, a waitress who works at Zombie Burger in Des Moines, Iowa, said she got a note from a customer, who refused to tip her.

It simply stated that the tip was withheld as “tips are only for normal looking people.”

Beeck, who has pink hair, according to her Facebook profile, said that she would have ignored not getting a tip even though it’s a big source of income for wait staff. She gave a shout-out “to this girl for stiffing me cuz I look like a weirdo~hope she feels better about herself,” she added.

“At first, I felt really upset, I felt attacked, I almost felt like I was back in middle school all over again, like being bullied. I felt like a burning anger inside of me,” she told WHO-TV.

“But I didn’t act on it because it’s not worth it when someone puts hate out there, you know to respond in a hateful way will do no good,” she added.

“I mean I can’t pay my bills if people don’t tip me. That’s how I make a living.”

Zombie Burger issued a statement, saying it is standing behind Beeck.

“Zombie Burger is a place that celebrates individuality and we think the vast majority of our customers like the fact that everybody there is unique,” stated spokesperson Chris Diebel of Zombie Burger’s parent company Orchestrate, according to Raw Story.

He added: “It is a real shame that someone would do this to a person in the service industry. We stand behind our staff and the fact that they celebrate who they are because that is at the core of Zombie Burger’s mission and a large part of what makes that environment special.”
