The Volkswagen XL1, a hybrid car, can get as many as 313 miles to the gallon, which got previewed at the Gadget Show Live in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.
The car will cost £111,000 but only 200 of them will be made.
The vehicle will not be released in the United States.
Over the past few days, there’s been talk on blogs about the car not getting a U.S. release, but the actual reason is relatively pedestrian.
AutoBlog said last year that some of the vehicles “may be brought to the US for testing, though how VW would get around the fact that the car’s haven’t been safety-tested for American roads remains to be seen.”
Mark Gillies, a manager at Volkswagen, said that the car won’t come to the U.S.
“Not happening. Ever,” Gillies said last year.
