Vivek Oberoi, the popular Bollywood actor, married Priyanka Alva at the Alva farmhouse in Bangalore on Friday.
Dressed in matching red-gold outfits designed by Tarun Tahiliani, Oberoi, 34, and Alva, 28, were wed in a ceremony that had rituals from Punjabi traditions and Karnataka’s coastal beauty, and finished at 2 a.m. according to the Hindustan Times.
Around 4,000 guests attended, including politicians and Bollywood stars like Sushmita Sen and Mani Ratnmam, with almost 200 policemen standing by for security.
The couple met recently while working at an orphanage. Priyanka is a business graduate from London and daughter of the late Jeevaraj Alva, former Karanatak Minister, and Nandini Alva, social worker and renowned classical dancer.
The wedding followed the successful opening of Oberoi’s latest movie Rakta Charitra on Oct. 21 with the second part still to be released on Nov. 19.
Oberoi plays Paritala Ravi, a politician and factionist from Andhra Pradesh who was assassinated in 2005 by his rivals, the Times of India reports.
The film is a brutal biography of Ravi’s life and his rise to power from a shy college student to a feared political leader.
