VisitFlorida Racing took its brand new Gibson-powered Riley Technologies Mk. 30 to Carolina Motorsports Park Saturday, Dec. 9, to test the car the team will campaign through the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship season.

Drivers Marc Goosens and Renger Van der Zande took out the new prototype for installation and shakedown laps prior to more serious testing at Daytona International Speedway Dec. 13–14.

The new car is an FIA-legal LMP2 Riley-Multimatic Mk. 30 with a British Gibson GK428 racing motor, the standard power plant for all LMP2 chassis. The GK428 is a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 producing about 600 bhp and 410 lb-ft of torque.

Mazda racing had already revealed its Riley-based RT24-P DPi at the Los Angeles Auto Show November 17, 2016.

The 2017 IMSA WSC season begins with the Roar Before the Rolex 24, Jan. 6–8, 2017.

The 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona will run Jan. 28–29, 2017. Tickets for both events are available through the Daytona International Speedway website.
