As Texans in the south of the state evacuate their homes from the destruction of Tropical Storm Harvey, one dog was captured on camera taking home his version of bread and milk.

Or was he?

Tiele Dockens of Texas photographed a German shepherd mix walking down the street in Sinton, Texas, carrying a bag of dog food in his mouth.

Dockens had been going around to check on the properties of friends who had evacuated when she spotted the dog, which she later found out was named Otis.

On Friday night, Otis got loose while under the care of Salvador Segovia, 65, who had been taking care of the dog for his 5-year-old grandson, Carter, who had evacuated.

Segovia told Chron.com that on Saturday morning, he checked the screened-in porch from where Otis had escaped and noticed that his bag of dog food was also missing.

He went out searching and talked to several people who reported having seen the dog.

He found Otis, he told  Chron.com, and was able to bring him home before his grandson returned.

What he was doing with the dog food is still unclear, but given that the food was his, it seems he may have been on more of a rescue mission than a food run.

This isn’t the first time Otis has been in the limelight.

The dog apparently made a name for himself in the town of 6,000 for his adventures.

“Otis can go to Dairy Queen and he can get a hamburger,” Segovia told Chon.com. “He’s the only dog allowed to lie down in front of the county court house.”

Segovia also said that he also wanders to the local pet store by himself.

“He’s not a stray. He’s a good dog,” he said.
