Several dozen supporters of the Finance Minister Simeon Djankov lit candles at the Presidency Fountain in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Sunday afternoon.

The flash-mob action called “Candle for Goce” by Facebook organizers, aimed to condemn the latest scandal involving Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov. Parvanov published a data transcript of his private conversation with Djankov, without the latter’s knowledge or consent.

According to the ruling party GERB, this violates the constitution. Political parties Ataka and the right-wing Blue Coalition declared they would support a procedure to remove the president from his post if initiated by the ruling GERB Party. Parvanov’s presidency has also been opposed because Parvanov was once an agent for the former communist state security services under the nickname “Goce.”
