Reports are claiming that a “Vietnam monster” slug was found in Southeast Asia, with some people claiming that it is a whale.

A video shows people hoisting the unidentified animal onto a truck, with dozens of people gathered around.

The uploader claims the animal was discovered in Vietnam but YouTube users have said the people are speaking Khmer, which is native to Cambodia.

The YouTube video description reads that the creature was “caught in Vietnam” and “was a freak.” But the user then goes on to say that it was “found in the soil,” making it “even more miraculous.”

“Vietnam Monster?' This video has Chinese watermarks, the people in the video are Cambodian, the description is written in Korean....and that thing is a whale,” wrote user Chandara Cheng on YouTube.

Some of the confusion may have been caused when RocketNews24 wrote that “recently, Karapaia, a Japanese news site focusing on the strange and weird, posted a video of what seems to be a giant monster being dug out of the ground in Vietnam. In the video, the long, fat, gray slug-like creature is surrounded by a crowd of curious onlookers watching with rapt attention as the horrifying behemoth is hoisted onto a trailer.”

RocketNews notes that the video was originally found on a Chinese website.
