Former presidents, politicians, and foreign dignitaries gathered at the national cathedral to say goodbye to one of their own, including former vice presidents Joe Biden, Dick Cheney, and Al Gore.

All the living former presidents were in attendance with their wives, as was President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Susan Pence.

George W Bush eulogized his father—calling him “optimistic” and “a patriot.”

“Dad could relate to people of all walks of life. He was an empathetic man. He valued character over pedigree. And he was no cynic,” said George W. Bush.

Following the service, the casket was taken to Joint Base Andrews for transport back to Texas.

Bush will be laid to rest next to his wife and daughter in a private ceremony at his presidential library in College Station on Thursday.

Many Uighur Muslims living outside of China don’t know what the Chinese regime has done with their relatives.
